Widow Match: An on-line based support group that matches widows of similar circumstances for supportive e-mail correspondence. Matches will generally be within ten years of each other in age, will have lost their husbands within six months of each other, and are in the same situation regarding having children. Women from across the country have been walking side-by-side as they travel the journey of loss.
One participant commented, “I cannot begin to tell you what my match through widowsbond has meant to me. I felt like I was the only one out there, and finding widowsbond has been a godsend. My match and I exchanged e-mails and it seemed that immediately there was a bond, we are often on the same page. I can say things to her that I cannot share with anyone else, because she understands. I live in Kansas and she is in California, but someday I would love to meet her in person. I just cannot say enough about how my match has helped me learn to live again.”
Grief Chats is a YouTube based program featuring short film clips on topics related to losing someone you love. These are real life stories read and written by the SSLF director, Michele Neff Hernandez. Each story begins with loss and ends with hope. Forum: Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation has partnered with For Widows Only to host a forum for widows to offer each other support, understanding and hope through the posting and reading of personal messages.
