Camp Widow 2010 Workshop Submissions

Thank you for your interest in sharing your unique vision with our Camp Widow attendees. One of the major purposes of the Camp Widow program is to provide our attendees with useful tools and valuable resources for rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of the death of a spouse. With this goal in mind, we ask that all presentations be forward thinking, have a positive overall tone, be inclusive and gender neutral, be focused on topics relevant to widowhood, and provide an inspiring take-away message.

Submissions will be accepted via e-mail (please call 877-671-4071 to arrange exceptions) from 1/15/10 through 3/1/10. Every submission will be considered by the Camp Widow Executive Team. Workshops should be 60 minutes in length. Interactive workshops are welcome. Power Point format will be accepted. Workshops that are presented by a two person team will be accepted. Panel presentations will only be facilitated by SSLF, no panels will be accepted via this submission process. Every person who submits a proposal will be notified on or before 4/15/10 regarding the status of their submission.

All of the presenters for the 2009 Camp Widow program were volunteers. Due to a severe lack of funding SSLF is unable to guarantee that you will be monetarily compensated for your travel and time when presenting at Camp Widow. We do provide your meals on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we welcome you as our guest to every activity associated with Camp Widow including attending other workshops before/after your scheduled time slot. We can definitely guarantee that you will change people’s lives by your attendance at this event, and that you will be amazed by the energy, camaraderie, and positive energy this weekend creates. Our hope is to provide each presenter with a small stipend, and pay the costs of their hotel accommodations, however, the final decision rtegarding the availability of compensation will be dependent on securing outside donations in support of this program. Please keep this fact in mind when submitting your workshop proposals. We appreciate the effort and planning involved in attending an event of this kind, and also recognize that your time and talents are valuable. It is our hope that our presenters will once again decide that the networking opportunities, the chance to get in on the ground floor of a growing program, and the desire to serve the widow community will bring you to San Diego to join us for Camp Widow.

Thank you for sharing your ideas with us, and thank you for being a part of the growing net of support that is so vital for widowed people around the world.

Please direct your questions regarding submissions to our Executive Director, Michele Neff Hernandez. You can reach Michele by e-mail at: micheleh@sslf.org or by phone at 877-671-4071 ext 706.
