Another widow recommended Wm. Paul Young's The Shack. I am not devoutly religious - in fact I am searching for my faith - but I found this book soothing. I want it all to be true! It is not difficult reading, but the concepts are profound. I hope it helps someone here.

The shack is a very good book. I read it and gave it to a friend and she has had it for months never finishing it. I personally like Walking in the Garden of Souls by George Anderson. This is the book I read and reread for months. Checking it out of the library and returning to borrow it again. If you believe in life after death this book is so comforting using a Garden of Souls to tell about life after death and grieving. As for faith I am not a big believer in organized religion. I do go to church occasionaly but will not become a member. I do however believe in God and pray often. And I do believe in a much better life ahead.

The Shack is a very interesting and thought-provoking book. I think we grow up believing what we're told, and don't always think about why we believe what we do. After you've read the book, an interesting followup is the author's CD of a talk he gave that explains how and why he wrote the book. It's probably as interesting as the book itself. Now I need to listen to the CD and re-read the book to make it all "fit" together. The CD was $5.99 and I bought it in a Christian book store. There is also an audio of the book, so if you're looking for the talk CD, check to make sure you get the one you want. I lent the CD to someone, so don't have the name handy right now.

I heard mixed reviews, I had a copy but could not get in to it, at all , I think its slow at first, and probably too impatient, 90 minutes in heaven was the one I read , and wondered why him, and not mine?
I think there are others that helped, like karen kingsburry
911 series,
the one that spoke most to me and helped was a when God and grief meet, true stories of comfort and compassion by lynn eib..

there are a few movies that helped me in some ways
one is out on dvd right now,
love happens, about a man giving a grief seminar, and who looses his wife,
then their was my sisters keeper, mainly because I have 2 girls,
and because of their unique circumstances are apart...
but I really appreciated daily emails from grief share..

not sure at times if anything helps, just have to get thru all the yucky feelings and back to an even keel, whenever that is...
