Bike Ride Phil Hernandez, AKA Coach Powerbar, was a Simi Valley resident for 13 years. An avid runner and cyclist, Phil spent his time running community races, coaching for the Simi Valley Running Rebels Track Club, and training for his various physical endeavors. He was a man who loved family, friends, track season, and a good long ride up a steep hill. His untimely, tragic death in a cycling accident highlights the need for safe roads, an increased awareness on the parts of both motorists and cyclists that they must share the road, and serves as a reminder to all of us to Seize the Day. We honor his spirit of service, and his sense of fun with this memorial ride. Please, Share the Road.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to providing peer based grief support programs to people grieving the loss of someone they love. This organization was founded in Phil's honor by his wife, Michele Neff Hernandez and has been serving a worldwide community for the past four years.
